I decided to read this book as I’m starting my business as a freelance teacher. I definitely learned something new with this book, Janine made it very clear and easy to understand what uniqueness and USP are, as well as why to niche. In the core of the marketing strategies lies the need to identify and select what values you stand for. I knew from taking other marketing courses this is one of the first stages in creating a business, so I decided to delve into this book as a way to go through this process as smoothly as possible. Janine’s book has really helped me understand what core values are and how do define and select them so that I can market my business for what I think my teaching stands for.
The book is packed with information and examples that will help you market your teaching business and stand out from competitors in a way that highlights your uniqueness: what makes your teaching so special that the right students will want to come to you.
In all, I think the book is worth the reading.
One of his comments while reading: The book has A LOT of information, but I think this is the type of book you read, do the homework, read and go back and forth.
What I really like about it are the examples of other businesses. It really helped me to understand the concepts. At the moment, I need to use the sheets to work through the info on my own business, but I think the book gives me a clear direction on how to do it.

‘Tell Me… What do You Teach? Marketing your Teaching Business’ by Janine Bray-Mueller is a great book for language teachers who intend to or are in their first stages of starting their own teaching business. It guides its readers through all the essential stages from defining your USP to finding and retaining your customers. The book is full of case studies, practical examples and metaphors, which makes it both an interesting read as well as a valuable source of information.
One of her comments while reading: I really enjoy reading your book. The examples and metaphors you included made it both interesting and easy to relate the content to my own professional situation.

I decided to beta read this book because I’m really interested in the topic. As a freelance teacher for two years now, I’ve always felt like I needed guidance to avoid making mistakes that could affect my career and also learn more about the aspects of the business which do not involve the classroom and teaching itself. Most freelance teachers I know unfortunately disregard this. They believe that just mastering the many aspects of teaching is enough to guarantee a successful career.
While reading this book, I could identify myself in some pages. For example, when it discusses the importance of marketing strategies and niching for freelance teachers. Not only does it bring theoretical insights on how to be a successful freelancer, but it also has worksheets that help us reflect upon what kind of professional we are/want to be. I strongly recommend it!

Excellent read! I love the way the author explained the ideas of marketing a teaching service in this book. A short but well-packed guidebook on marketing written specifically for teachers. Straight to the point and no fluffs. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to start or transition into a profitable Freelance Teaching Business.
